Paterson Hall (PA)

Paterson Hall is named after Norman Paterson, one of Canada's longest serving senators whose generous financial support helped to develop Carleton's world-renowned programs in international affairs. Here you'll find the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, the College of Humanities, the history department, the Institute of European and Russian Studies and the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies which offers intensive English - language training programs for international students.

A branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia is located on the lower level.

Designated Parking
Three designated parking spaces near the Bank of Nova Scotia.

Exterior Entrance
Ground level entrance from the southeastern side of building near the Bank of Nova Scotia, and ramp from quad to second level. Automatic doors.

Tunnel Access
Tunnel entrance to level 1. Automatic doors.

Elevators
One semi-accessible elevator.

Washrooms
Inaccessible washrooms on all levels. Accessible washroom designated for the exclusive use of persons with disabilities at tunnel entrance.

Telephones
Pay phones on second level are accessible.

Lecture/Classroom Areas
Classrooms and labs are generally accessible. Minor modifications are needed for some - i.e. desks with knee clearance for wheelchair users.

Study Areas
There is a small study/lounge area on each level.

Proximity to Lounges/Refreshments
Vending machines at tunnel junction and closest cafeteria/lounge facilities are in the University Centre.

Existing/Remaining Obstacles
No accessible washrooms in the building; no emergency phones above the second level.

Remarks/Hints
When using language labs, students may wish to request a booth which can accommodate a wheelchair. Students should get their own key to the accessible washroom at tunnel entrance from the Paul Menton Centre at the beginning of the academic year.
