MacOdrum Library (ML)

The MacOdrum Library, named in honour of Carleton's second president Murdoch Maxwell MacOdrum, contains a collection of more than two million items - books, microfilms, tapes, CDs, government documents, maps, periodicals and archival materials - as well as study space and reading rooms. A computerized catalogue system provides access to the collection.

Designated Parking
Four designated parking spaces in front of the building near the tunnel entrance.

Exterior Entrance
Two accessible exterior entrances:

  1. from quad onto level 2 and
  2. tunnel entrance from outside leading to tunnel elevator.

Tunnel Access
Accessible by elevator.

Elevators
Key to access 4th and 5th floors in service elevator can be obtained from the Stacks Supervisor. Elevator in new wing is fully accessible and services levels 1 to 3. It does not require a key to operate. Elevator at front entrance provides access to the quad and the tunnel from the main floor.

Washrooms
Inaccessible washrooms from levels from levels 1 to 4. Washrooms on fifth level are semi-accessible (wide stalls and grab bars). Washrooms in new wing are fully accessible.

Telephones
Accessible pay phones on all levels of the new wing.

Lecture/Classroom Areas
Not applicable.

Study Areas
Study facilities located throughout the library but there is a Study Centre for Persons with Disabilities located in Room 232.

Proximity to Lounges/Refreshments
Vending machines at tunnel junction. Easy access to all cafeteria/lounge facilities in the University Centre.

Existing/Remaining Obstacles
Public elevator access to 4th and 5th floors. Volume controls on pay phones in library and tunnel.

Remarks/Hints
