Welcome to the School of Social Work. The current economic and political climate presents particularly challenging times for social workers but our program of study is designed to assist you in meeting these challenges. Our faculty and some 2000 alumni are leaders in the development of a structural approach to social work practice that is rooted in social justice and social change. We look forward to the knowledge, experiences and energy that you will bring to the program.

Our Mission

The social work programs at Carleton University are based on the structural approach to social work. This approach provides a critical framework for analysis of social work knowledge and practice. It is based on an analysis of how economic, social, political and legislative contexts shape individual and societal problems. Through this approach, the School of Social Work promotes the development of innovative social work practice directed toward advancing equality and social justice.

The School of Social Work is a member of the Canadian

Association of Social Work Education (CASWE)
