Co-Regulating Corporate Social Responsibility: The Possibilities and Limits of Voluntary Business Sustainability.
Abstract: Companies are increasingly turning to voluntary corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs such as eco-certification to govern operations, mitigate business risks, and sustain financial performance. This offers prospects for governments to leverage CSR as a new policy instrument. Yet, there are also limits. Understanding these, as Jane’s talk will show, is increasingly critical to effective environmental management.
