SIGNALS Annual BBQ

Dear SIGNALS members,

A friendly reminder that our annual summer barbecue will be taking place at 5:30pm on Thursday, August 22nd at La Grange de la Gatineau, in Cantley, QC (http://www.grange.ca/).

Our speaker will be Clare Demerse, Director of Federal Policy for the Pembina Institute (http://www.pembina.org/contact/69), addressing pipeline politics and Canada’s approach to climate change. In her presentation, Clare will discuss why we spend so much time talking about pipelines, whether pipelines matter, and what to watch for in the months ahead.

Please RSVP to events@signalsnetwork.ca by August 16th, indicating any dietary restrictions and whether you need or can offer a ride to the event. We will do our best to coordinate travel. Ride offers would be most appreciated–currently need transport for three from Place Vincent Massey, Gatineau.

Many thanks to those who have already responded. It promises to be an evening of stimulating discussion and good company!

SPPA PhD’s participate in 2013 Policy Studies Conference at Ryerson University

Six of our PhD students are on the program for a conference organized by the PhD Program in Policy studies at Ryerson University. The conference, entitled “Policy Research in Times of Austerity and Uncertainty”, will take place at Ryerson on May 8^th, 9^th and 10^th. Among those scheduled to participate are PhD students Ruby Dagher, Senada Delic, Silvia Garcia de Agnelli, John Jacobs, Annie McEwen and Jesse Steinberg. In addition, Professor Chris Stoney will be a Guest Speaker. The preliminary program for the event is at http://www.ryerson.ca/policyconference/program.html.
