1) Director, Income Assistance – Department of Family Services

This senior management role in Iqaluit, NU will be of particular interest to a proven leader who is highly knowledgeable about social work, income support, front-line service delivery, policy development, budget development and monitoring, grant funding and contract management. Reporting to the Executive Director of Family Services Programs, you will manage all Divisional programs and services provided to residents of Nunavut. As Director of Income Assistance, you will be accountable for the management and delivery of the majority of the Government’s income assistance programs and services, including Social Assistance, Senior Citizens Supplementary Benefit, Senior Fuel Subsidy, Childcare Subsidy, Transition to Work, National Child Benefit and the Territorial Workers Supplement. You will also hold statutory appointments under both the Social Assistance Act and the Senior Citizens Benefit Act.

DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC PLANNING
(Full-Time Regular)

Play a pivotal leadership role in the development and implementation of policies and plans for the region

Land use, transportation, agriculture and food—these are just some of the areas for which you will develop and implement plans and policies. Working together with elected officials and municipal and provincial staff from a variety of jurisdictions, business leaders and the public, as the Director, Strategic Planning, you will provide the visionary leadership necessary to guide our region toward a promising, sustainable future. You are driven, results-oriented and no stranger to moving plans forward in an atmosphere of competing interests. Corporate strategy is your forte and your talent as a communicator is one of your greatest strengths. An innovative thinker who is committed to excellence in public service, your grasp of planning goals and policies will ensure effective integration of regional plans into improvements to our region, including its parks and greenways, air quality, environment and housing. 

You will be reporting to the General Manager of Planning, Policy and Environment and oversee a work group consisting of 30 staff members. Your input will be critical to the work of both the General Manager as well as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and will influence decisions made by the Metro Vancouver Board of Directors and a number of committees.

A senior role in parks planning and development for a talented and visionary leader

As regional parks director, you are an expert in the field of parks planning, development and operations, with a genuine passion for achieving excellence in public service. You will be at the forefront of delivering and implementing plans and policies for Metro Vancouver’s extensive system of regional parks and reserves, promoting our parks to the community at large and advising senior decision makers on all matters related to the regional parks function. A particular focus of your role will centre on leading an interdisciplinary team of 150 staff, including 6 direct reports, in parks planning, operations, construction, development as well as property acquisition and management, resource management, public relations and visitor services.

Highly driven, you relentlessly pursue the change you want to see. You will leverage this strength, along with strong subject matter credibility and stakeholder relationships, to drive agendas forward.
