Investing in a Foundation for the Future: Innovative Financing of Early Childhood Education

Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) – in partnership with Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration – is delighted to invite you to the next event in the AKFC Seminars on Innovative Financing for Development.

Investing in a Foundation for the Future:
Innovative Financing for Early Childhood Education

Decades of research has shown that the experiences of a child’s early years will lay the foundation for their education, behaviour and health as an adult. Governments around the world have been recommitting to early education programs over the last few years, but these programs require a massive investment of people, time and money. In uncertain economic times, budgets for education – and early human development, in particular – are often the first to suffer.

AKFC is pleased to welcome Dr. Marito Garcia, Lead Economist and Program Manager at the Human Development Department of the Africa Region of the World Bank, to introduce innovative financing mechanisms that can change the nature of education program funding worldwide, and the impact on the world’s poor. Dr. Garcia will explore how the education world might learn from experiences in other fields to tap into conditional cash transfers, create social impact bonds and design education credits to infuse new energy and resources into laying a solid foundation for the next generation.

We hope you will join us:
