Graduate Academic Caucus (GAC) – Get involved with the GSA!
The Graduate Academic Caucus (GAC) is a standing committee of the Graduate Students’ Association. Representatives serve as direct links between students, departments and the GSA, while also ensuring that the academic needs of graduate students are represented and conveyed to Carleton’s Senate and university administration. Typically these issues and concerns may include but are not limited to the following: program and course offerings; access to research materials; funding and financial matters; academic integrity, copyright, and issues related to graduate student supervision.
Each department has two positions on GAC. The tradition has been that if you have students sitting on our SPPA departmental board, they are those who sit on GAC. This ensures that members from across graduate studies share their academic issues and experiences in a larger forum. If you are a student interested in sitting on GAC, and who is not currently sitting on the SPPA departmental board, the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) will still welcome your participation as well.
The Graduate Academic Caucus will be holding its first meeting in early October. Please email your contact information to the VP-Academic of the Graduate Students’ Association, Justine Mallah, at vpa@gsacarleton.ca.You will be added as a member and kept informed regarding meetings involving the GAC.
