Call for Session Proposals: ONPHA’s 2013 Annual Conference and Trade Show
Call for Session Proposals: ONPHA’s 2013 Annual Conference and Trade Show
The Ontario Non-Profit and Housing Association (ONPHA) annual conference and trade show will be held on October 17-20, 2013 at the Toronto Sheraton Centre Hotel.
ONPHA’s Annual Conference and Trade Show is the largest affordable housing conference in Canada. It attracts a diverse mix of delegates including housing provider staff and board members, tenants, academics, provincial and federal officials, representatives of Ontario municipalities, and a variety of other sector organizations. There is no better forum to present new and exciting housing ideas.
ONPHA wants to hear from you. What new research should our sector hear about? What policy changes need to be debated? How can we move forward and improve Ontario’s housing system?
Proposed session topics can include:
- original research
- policy changes or developments
- new approaches to housing management or development
- innovative models of community development or tenant engagement
Sessions can also engage with larger conceptual questions or issues. Session topics that appeal to a broad audience will be given special consideration.
There are a variety of available session formats. Inspire Sessions are 45 minutes to one hour long. Traditional Sessions are 1.5 hours long and most have 2-3 speakers. Learning Labs are 2 hours long and are more in-depth and hands-on.
Proposals should include an abstract, the list of presenters, and your preferred session length/format. Sessions can be single-presenter or feature multiple presenters. All sessions have a moderator to introduce the session, keep time, and lead a Q&A period. You can suggest a moderator, or ONPHA can assign one for your session. Please limit your proposals to 500 words.
Session proposals will be evaluated by ONPHA staff. Submit your proposal no later than February 7, 2013 at 5pm to Jon Medow, Coordinator, Policy, Research and Government Relations. We will endeavour to reply to submissions by March 1, 2013. Young and/or emerging leaders, researchers, and housing professionals are encouraged to submit proposals.
For over 20 years, ONPHA has been the voice of non-profit housing in Ontario. ONPHA unites over 760 non-profit organizations providing housing in 220 communities across Ontario. Our members include municipal and private non-profits of all sizes, with all types of funding.
