The 2012 Institute of Public Administration (IPAC) National Capital Region Student Essay Prize honours excellence in the study of public administration. The objective of the competition is to encourage students with career interests in the public service to make original contributions to the field of public administration by examining the structures, processes and outcomes of public policy, administration and management in all spheres of government in Canada.

IPAC-NAC received a record number of entries this year between graduate and undergraduate-level programs from five universities within the region. The top prizes in this year’s IPAC NCR student essay award went to Jamie Moeller and Leila Steiner.

Jamie Moeller’s essay, which made the case for universal dental care in Canada, won the top prize while Leela Steiner’s essay on the regulation of endocrine disrupting compounds was the runner-up. The essays were judged by a panel of reviewers and verified with subject-matter experts.

Congratulations Jamie and Leela!!
