Learn to play Xiangqi (Chinese Chess). Explore using video games as a way to improve your language learning.

The goal of these sessions is to work on your language learning outside the classroom in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment.

Keep in mind that these sessions are run by volunteers…so if you have specific homework questions or questions about what you did in class, be sure to ask your teacher or your TA.

Do you have advanced proficiency in a second or additional language?  Then we may be looking for you!  The SLaLS Language Centre is seeking multilingual Work Study students to work in our Language Resource Room this fall/winter.

Languages we are specifically interested in include: American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, German, Inuktitut, Italian, Japanese, Kiswahili, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

Don’t speak another language but are excited about languages and language learning?  Go ahead and apply.  We are always on the lookout for people with an interest in and an enthusiasm for all things language.

Do you have computer proficiency, a demonstrated interest in language learning, and native-like fluency in one of the second or additional languages taught at Carleton?  If so, then we may just have a Work Study position for you.

We are looking for a lab monitor for our two language learning technology spaces in the St. Patrick’s Building.  Job responsibilities will be diverse.

Native-like proficiency in a second or additional language, especially Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, Russian, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, or Spanish may be an asset but is not required.
