Undergraduate Programs
SLaLS offers degrees in two areas of concentration at the undergraduate level:
- Linguistics - concerned with the formal description and analysis of language
- Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies * – focused on language use in social and educational settings
SLaLS offers Minor programs in Linguistics, Applied Language Studies, American Sign Language, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. See Modern Languages for additional language courses available in SLaLS.
We also offer a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (CTESL) which can be done either concurrently with a BA in Linguistics or in ALDS, or as a postgraduate certificate. While students of sign language can choose to pursue a Certificate in American Sign Language.
