If you need to take a language placement test, you need to sign up in advance by completing and submitting the form below.

• Testing begins 1 March for the Spring/Summer 2013, Fall 2013 and Winter 2014 terms.
• Testing time slots for May – August will be Tuesday 9:30 – 10:30* am and Thursday 1:30 – 2:30* pm. *Please note some languages may require an oral interview after the written component is completed. Some languages have modified test procedures. Before you register for your test, check the language-specific instructions to see if there are any particular instructions that you need to be aware of.
• We DO NOT do placement testing for French.  If you are planning to take a French course, please contact the Department of French directly.

On your pre-arranged testing day, please arrive at 358 St. Patrick’s Building 15 mins before the scheduled time or you will not be permitted to write the test on that day.

The duration of the written test is approximately 1 hour.

* For those individuals who plan to study at Carleton but who have not yet been admitted, you are still eligible to complete a placement test. Just enter the words “not yet admitted” in the Student Number portion of this form.
