To help you choose courses each year, we suggest the following program paths:

2 1.0 credit in ALDS 2201 and ALDS 2202 1.0 credit from ALDS 2203, 2701, 2704, 2705, LING 2001, 2604 0.5 to 1.0 credit from any 2000-level ALDS courses 2 to 2.5 credits in electives. If you want to complete a minor (4 credits), you can take 1.0 or 2.0 credit toward your minor. 5 cr.
3 1.5 credits from ALDS 3401, 3402, 3405, 3701, 3702, 3705, 3706, 3903 1.0 to 1.5 credit from any 3000-level ALDS courses 2 to 2.5 credits in electives. If you want to complete a minor, you can take 1.0 or 2.0 credit toward your minor. 5 cr.

4 1.0 credit from ALDS 4201, 4207, 4208, 4602, 4709, 4801, 4802. CTESL students must take ALDS 4602 and 4801. 1.0 credit in any 4000-level ALDS courses. CTESL students must take ALDS 4205. 1.0 credit from ALDS 4206, 4908, or other approved courses. CTESL students must take 4206. 2 credits in electives. If you want to complete a minor, you can take 1.0 or 2.0 credit toward your minor. 5 cr.

The BA Honours in Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies can be combined with a BA Honours in a variety of disciplines such as Canadian Studies, English, French, History, Sociology, etc. When completing a combined Honours, you must meet the requirements of both disciplines. For illustration purposes, a possible program path is suggested for a combined honours in Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies and French. Total 6 credits in ALDS (max: 7 credits) 7.0 credits (+ FREN 1100 or 1110 if required; max: 8.0 credits) 7 credits (4 credits required for a minor; deduct extra credits in FREN or ALDS) 20 cr.
Note: You must take at least 5 credits not in FREN and at least 7 credits not in ALDS. You can concurrently complete the CTESL (with special ALDS course requirements) or a minor (4 credits) in linguistics or in another language or discipline.
