Indigenous language students present at conference

Congratulations to Claire Owen (Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies), Geraldine King (Canadian Studies), and Holly Laforge (Social Work), the three members of our Anishinaabemowin class who presented at the recent Anishinaabemowin Teg Conference in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

Owen and King also presented on the theme of language and identity at the 13th Annual Symposium in Indigenous Research “Indigenizing the Academy,” 3-4 February, 2012 at Queen’s University.
LANG 1010/1020 was taught by Jean Akiwenzie, an Ojibway speaker from Neyaashiinigaming (Cape Croker), on the Bruce Peninsula north of Toronto.
