Courses to Accompany Conference

Two courses are also offered to complement the upcoming Genre 2012 Conference on the Carleton University campus:

ALDS 5703 – Approaches to Genre Studies
(0.5 credit)

Dates: Monday, June 11 – Thursday, June 21, 2012
Length: 4 hours/day

Instructor: Natalia (Natasha) Artemeva

This intensive introductory course is offered prior to the beginning of the conference (June 11-21, 2012).  Designed for students who have no or limited background in Genre Studies, the course introduces students to the major current approaches to Genre Studies in order to provide background necessary to fully participate in the conference.  This course can be taken only for credit.

ALDS 5905 Section G - Special Topics in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies: Recent and Current Research in Genre Studies
(0.5 credit)

Dates: Monday, June 25 – Saturday, June 30, 2012 (including the Genre 2012 conference)
* The pre-post conference days (June 25 and 30) can be taken not for credit as workshops.

Instructor: Natalia (Natasha) Artemeva

This intensive advanced course is designed for students who already have a background in Genre Studies.  If taken for credit, the course includes two full-days, one before and one after the conference (June 25 and June 30, 2012), and mandatory conference attendance.
