The Emergency Notification System (ENS) allows Carleton’s Department of University Safety to contact a mass number of people in the event of a campus- wide emergency. It uses three forms of communication to deliver instructional messages to everyone registered on the system should an emergency occur:

• a computer lockout system,
• e-mails sent to @Connect and @Carleton.ca accounts and,
• cellphone texts (you must subscribe to this free service via Carleton Central).

To subscribe, log onto Carleton Central at: https://central.carleton.ca to register your cellphone number. Once you are in the main menu, locate “Campus Alerts.” You will each receive a welcome text message from 30000035 to which you must reply with the following text message: JOIN CUTXT. This is required to validate your cellphone number on our system. Our system will send you a text message to confirm your registration.

NOTE: It takes two steps to be registered.

New Service Disruption Notification System:

If you would like to subscribe to receive Service Disruption alerts, please log into Carleton Central at: https://central.carleton.ca. Once you are in the main menu, locate “Campus Alerts” and select the Service Disruption Notification link. You must have previously registered your cellphone number on the ENS to receive Service Disruption alerts.

Please note that all subscribers to Carleton’s campus alert services will receive a monthly text message reminder that you have subscribed. No action is required.

Subscribers to this service will receive a text message in the event of an unplanned service disruption on campus such as; road, pathway or building closures, and if elevator service is unavailable in a building.

**** External departments or organizations which require multiple cellphone registrations must print and fill out an ENS External Registration Form. Completed forms are to be dropped off at 203 Robertson Hall. Please be aware that you may be required to provide identification at this time.
