Feb. 23, 2015 – For immediate release

On Saturday Feb. 21, 2015, three members from Carleton University’s Campus Safety Services participated in the 2015 Polar Plunge in support of the Special Olympics. This year is the first year this event has been held in Ottawa.

The Department’s team, Carleton U Safety Plungers, raised $415 which assisted event organizers in exceeding their $25,000 fundraising goal. The money will assist offset the costs to host the provincial floor hockey championships in May which will be held at Carleton University.

The Special Olympics Ontario provides those in our community and across Ontario with an intellectual disability, the opportunity to participate in sport and recreational activities.

This year’s team included Special Constable Mark Hargreaves and Student Safety Patrollers Rachel Inniss and Faez Zinbarakji.
