Carleton University Outdoors Club
Introduction
The Carleton University Outdoors Club (CUOC) is an official student club of
Carleton University, sponsored
by the Carleton University
Student Association (CUSA). This club is for people who are interested in all
kinds of outdoor activities. The club is open to Carleton students, alumni and the
general public. In the club there is a mixture of students from many disciplines and years.
Participating in outdoor activities is a great way to have fun and to meet fellow students.
Club Activities
The main activities of the club are climbing, caving, hiking, trail running,
backpacking, canoeing, camping, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. We have also
done kayaking, mountain biking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, and winter
camping. Members are encouraged to suggest and organize new activities.
Membership
The membership fee is $10 for Carleton students and $15 for individual members. There is no extra charge for participating in activities, but if there are expenses, they are simply shared equally among the participants (i.e. entrance fees, gas money). For higher cost trips the club will subsidize part of the trip. To become a member simply join the club community. Memberships are valid from September to the end of August. The best time to become a member is early in the school year, to take full advantage of all the activities. Payment can be made during our club meeting or at your first event.
