The Metropolis Project has mobilized top Canadian and international expertise on migration and integration to offer a one of a kind training programme for Canadian and international senior policy makers, practitioners and the business sector.
The programme has been developed in close collaboration with an international Experts Advisory Committee, including Graeme Hugo (University of Adelaide), Jan Niessen (Migration Policy Group), Imelda Nicolas (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) and Peter Schatzer (IOM) among many others.
The initial pilot training, including tuition, is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and will run from June 23-29, 2014 in Ottawa.
“With global demographics unequivocally pointing towards a future where we have more, not less, international migration, the need for experience and expertise on migration and integration will only grow. Global demographic and economic trends will have inexorable effects on international migration with shifts in countries of origin and destination and with a growing international competition for skilled immigrants.” States Howard Duncan, Executive Head of the Metropolis Project. Metropolis Professional Development will fill that gap.”
