2nd, 3rd, 4th Year Students – maeadvising@carleton.ca

Please note that the maeadvising email is used primarily to book appointments with the Advisor to discuss your questions/concerns. This gives the Advisor the appropriate amount of time to address the question, review your student audit and formulate a valid, accurate, and informed response. Appointments are made on a first request/first served basis.

During busy periods of the term, such as the weeks leading up to the registration deadlines and the withdrawal deadlines, there may be an additional wait time for an appointment so please take this into consideration when making your academic plans.

Undergraduate students who are considering registration in a graduate course, must complete the following steps below:

  1. Meet/contact the instructor to verify that you possess the required prerequisite knowledge and to secure their approval to be in the course.
  2. Meet with the Undergraduate Advisor or get an email approval from them. Book an advising appointment at maeadvising@carleton.ca 
  3. Submit an override request via Carleton Central (not Engineering Request Form/Scheduler Tool as that is only used for undergrad courses)
  4. Send an email to the MAE Graduate Administrator, Janet Perras (janet.perras@carleton.ca), with supporting documentation/emails from both the Undergraduate Advisor and the instructor.
  5. Janet will approve the override request after August 6 if there is room in the course.
