The University recognizes your rights to privacy. Information about your employment and performance is considered to be confidential and is protected under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of Ontario (Section 42) and the Carleton University Privacy Policy.

Your Personnel File
Your personnel file in Human Resources is the historical record of your work and benefits history while you work at Carleton. Documents contained in this file are the property of the University and may not be removed by you.
Access to your file is restricted to the auditors and staff who administer employment, benefits and compensation policies.
If a manager has an operational need to see one of their employee’s files, the manager will be shown the relevant information by an authorized member of the Human Resources staff. The manager may only see information regarding Employment History and CV/Resume records.
Arranging to view your file
You may make an appointment to view your file in the presence of a Human Resources staff member by calling Human Resources and providing 24 hours notice. You may obtain copies of material in the file that was addressed to you or where you were copied on the correspondence.
Please see the HR Policy Manual for more information.
