Pre-Retirement Seminars
Human Resources in conjunction with the Retirement Planning Institute of Ottawa and Scotiabank are offering a two-day seminar for employees considering retirement. It covers the financial, benefit and emotional readiness information necessary to help you plan a successful retirement.
The seminar will run twice this spring, once for professional staff and once for faculty and executives.
Professional Staff, April 17 & 18, 2013: This seminar is open to members of the Retirement Plan from the following groups: Administrative Management, Administrative Technical Exempt, CUPE 2424, CUPE 3778, CUPE 910, and University Safety.
Faculty & Executives, May 16 & 17, 2013: This seminar is open to members of the retirement plan in the following groups: CUASA, Academic Management and Executives.
Seating is limited and priority will be given to employees nearing retirement.
Topics of the seminars will include:
- Working beyond your normal retirement date
- Carleton pension benefits
- Carleton post-retirement benefits
- Preparing emotionally for retirement
- Other sources of retirement income
- Deciding when to retire
- Estate planning
- A word from the Carleton University Retirees Association
- Financial management for retirees
Please note that Day 1 runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, while Day 2 runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
If your spouse will be attending with you, please notify rebecca_bowie@carleton.ca or x8985 immediately after you have registered through Carleton Central. This will help us manage the number of participants more effectively.
