Professor Lara Karaian Awarded SSHRC Insight Development Grant
Dr. Karaian is the recipient of a two year SSHRC Insight Development Grant (2012-2014) for her project titled “Managing Risky Subjects: Teenage Girls, Digital Technology and Canadian Anti-Sexting Public Education Campaigns.” Unlike in the US and Australia, Canada has yet to see a criminal law response to teenage sexting, despite the fact such a response is possible. More…

Jill Vickers, Distinguished Research Professor and Emeritus Chancellor’s Professor in the Department of Political Science and Annette Isaac, a faculty lecturer in the Department of Political Science have authored a new book titled The Politics of Race. The Politics of Race is an excellent resource for students and general readers seeking to learn about race policies and legislation. Arguing that ‘states make race,’ it provides a unique comparison of the development and construction of race in three white settler societies — Canada, the United States, and Australia. More …

FPA Reads 2012

Following an exciting round of nominations, shortlisting and voting on the finalists, the FPA community of students, staff, and faculty selected Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell as the inaugural title for FPA Reads 2012.

There will be a screening the movie – 1984 with John hurt and Richard Burton – September 12 at the Mayfair with a panel discussion, moderated by Evan Solomon, on September 19 – save these dates and tell your friends!
