  Gagnon’s summer publication hat trick on the pharma industry
Network Fellow Marc-André Gagnon published three papers on diverse forms of institutional corruption in the pharmaceutical industry and is featured in the July 2012 issue of Prescrire International for his latest works on the institutional corruption of medical research. His recent publications also include an analysis of the costs and benefits of public financial subsidy to the pharmaceutical sector in Quebec. More

Old-style politics returns to Mexico
Laura Macdonald, Professor in the Department of Political Science and the Institute of Political Economy, writes in Citizen about outcome of Mexican election. In an about face, the PRI candidate is now poised to return to the Mexican White House 12 years after Mexicans voted in democratic elections to turf out the corrupt, authoritarian Institutional Revolutionary Party. More

Derek Burney and Fen Hampson address criticisms of their recent report on Canada-U.S. relationship. Mr. Burney, a Senior Research Fellow at the Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute and a Visiting Professor and Senior Distinguished Fellow at Carleton University and NPSIA Professor and Director Fen Hampson, provide interesting insight on Canada-U.S. relations with the rose-coloured filters removed in iPolitics. More

An important report – Unleashing the Nuclear Watchdog: Strengthening and Reform of the IAEA – the culmination of two-year research project that examined all aspects of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mandate and operations, was presented to the Carleton University community by the author of the report Trevor Findlay – Chair of the William and Jeanie Barton Chair in International Affairs, Director of the Canadian Centre for Treaty Compliance (CCTC), and Professor of International Affairs at Carleton University. Trevor Findlay is also a CIGI Senior Fellow and he makes multiple recommendations, both strategic and programmatic, for strengthening and reform of the IAEA. More

FPA Reads 2012

Following an exciting round of nominations, shortlisting and voting on the finalists, the FPA community of students, staff, and faculty selected Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell as the inaugural title for FPA Reads 2012.

There will be a screening the movie – 1984 with John hurt and Richard Burton – September 12 at the Mayfair with a panel discussion, moderated by Evan Solomon, on September 19 – save these dates and tell your friends!
