The Film Studies program offered by the School for Studies in Art and Culture is one of the largest and one of the most respected of its kind in Canada. Its distinctiveness is founded on a wide range of attributes. Its curriculum introduces students to a variety of approaches to the moving image, from feature films to television and new interactive technologies. Learn more.
All units in the School for Studies in Art and Culture (SSAC) have graduate programs at the Masters level (for more information about the Film Studies MA please click here). As well, most full-time faculty members in the SSAC can supervise PhD dissertations through the Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Culture (ICSLAC). The banner images at the top of this page are of the Imperial Theatre (ca 1938, and 1947) on Bank Street in centretown Ottawa, and are reproduced with the kind permission of the Archives of Ontario.
