**Part 14 in our series on services for graduate students at Carleton.

Just won an award?  Been featured in a recent news story? Conducting intriguing research?

The Department of University Communications (DUC) is interested in promoting good news stories.

They offer different venues such as being featured on the university home page (www.carleton.ca), in Today@Carleton (an electronic daily bulletin for staff/faculty) or in their monthly online magazine called Carleton Now (carletonnow.carleton.ca/). Ideas are always welcome.

The media relations crew of Christopher Cline and Steven Reid send out regular communiqués, notifying the media of important news stories.

DUC also manages the university events calendar. The calendar will keep you up-to-date with events that are happening on campus. You can submit events online at this website (http://events.carleton.ca/).  For easy access, TheGraduate@Carleton newsletter has a link to the calendar at the bottom of the newsletter template.

DUC also offers regular media training workshops in which you can learn more about how to promote your research effectively to the media. The next workshop is on June 19 in the afternoon. If you are interested, please contact beth_gorham@carleton.ca.

More information is available on the DUC website.
