Teaching Award for Contract Instructors
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Teaching Awards are intended to recognize pedagogical excellence. From 2013, a new award will be conferred annually, intended for FASS Contract Instructors, with an honorarium of $1,000 and a certificate of recognition. Contract Instructors may apply for this FASS Teaching Award or may be nominated by their colleagues. All those Contract Instructors teaching in the current academic year (Fall and/or Winter term) who have also taught a minimum of 2.0 credits in the past 5 years are eligible. Applications will be adjudicated by the Executive Committee of the FASS Faculty Board.
Applications should include the following:
- a brief statement of teaching philosophy
- a list of courses taught over the previous 5 years, with a brief description of each course, as well as a tabulation of teaching scores received over this period
- any other materials related to teaching that the applicant would like the Awards Committee to consider
Applications should reach the Office of the Dean by January 31, with results announced by the end of March.
