I am a political scientist who teaches in the School of Canadian Studies. My research explores the politics of branding Canada. I am developing, with L. Pauline Rankin, the concept of “critical nationalism,” a pedagogical and research tool used in Canadian Studies at Carleton for understanding and explaining the ongoing evolution of Canadian society and the relationship between Canadian values, Canadian identity, and Canadian public policy.
