CU in the City

The aim of CU in the City is to share FASS research with the Ottawa community by holding research talks in various neighbourhoods across the city. The CU in the City series will provide opportunities for FASS faculty and students to interact with one another off campus as well as strengthen ties between FASS and the general public.

October 24, 2013: 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., 25OneCommunity, 251 Bank St. 2nd floor (Imperial Building ) between Cooper and Lisgar. Please register.

Dr. Sophie Tamas, Banting Fellow in the Departments of Geography and Canadian Studies will present “Mapping memory: Scrapbooking the impact of abuse.” Dr. Tamas is an arts-based researcher with an interest in community-based social change initiatives using stories, photographs, collages, and digital communities. Her current work uses on-line scrapbooking as a way to help survivors of domestic abuse come to terms with their losses, combat self-blame and isolation, and challenge mainstream perceptions of abuse and trauma.
