In March, students of the “I am Canadian (or am I?)” ArtsOne cluster organized and ran a slam poetry event.
Students made programs, posters, researched the history of slam, studied the Ottawa slam poetry scene, wrote their own press release, conducted radio interviews, and introduced performers.
The event featured three well known and acclaimed slam poets – Chris Tse, Mosha Folger, and Festrell, whom addressed issues of race, gender, ethnicity and Canadian identity.
