FASS researcher awarded Leverhulme Trust
This January, Sarah Brouillette, an associate professor in the Department of English, will begin research at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland. During her 10-month term, she will work with faculty members in the media, communication and sociology program.
Brouillette’s research on literature and the creative economy examines conflicts that emerge as governments attempt to steer artistic output into strategies for economic development and images for international consumption.
Established in 1925 at the wish of the first Viscount Leverhulme, William Hesketh Lever, the Leverhulme Trust makes awards for the support of research and education. With annual funding of some £50 million, the Trust is amongst the largest providers of research funding in the United Kingdom.
The Leverhulme Fellowship supports scholars engaged in research projects of all disciplines that emphasize originality, significance and the removal of barriers between traditional disciplines. The Trust is awarded only to those of exceptional personal talent and aims to assist them in applying their talents to benefit the wider community.
