Germany’s energy transition – the Energiewende, France’s transition énergétique, and resistance to progressive energy and climate policies in Central and Eastern Europe don’t sit together easily. The contradictions in national positions make it extremely challenging to put Europe on the road to a green, clean economy. And yet the world is looking to Europe for leadership on these questions. The talk will give an overview of the European debate on climate and energy policy ahead of the decision on the EU’s new climate and energy policy framework until 2030. In the run-up to a new international climate agreement in Paris next year the EU’s stance will be critical. What are the prospects for a green economy in Europe? And how will the EU be able to shape the global debate?

Find out with Dr. Sabrina Schulz, Head of E3G’s Berlin Office, as she speaks about “European Energy Transformations – The Bumpy Road to a Green Economy” which is jointly hosted by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, CES, and EURUS.
