“Scenario-based risk assessment decision support modelling tools for regional climate change and climate extremes, impacts and adaptation in agricultural watersheds” is a project funded by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs’ New Directions Research Program.  One objective is to provide a clearing-house for information useful for evaluating climate change in Ontario, starting with our pilot program in eastern Ontario.

Several sub-projects have been launched to help meet our objectives.  We have characterized the changing eastern Ontario climate, focussing on extreme weather.  We have developed and collected indicators of changing extreme weather events, to help decision-makers at farm and community levels plan for future scenarios.  We are also developing a scenario modelling tool. It combines indicators with scenarios and process models of relevance to eastern Ontario agricultural communities. This lets us visualize alternative potential futures under relevant global change scenarios.
