Present Around The World competition

Present Around The World competition

The Ottawa Network of the IET is seeking competitors to participate in the Present Around The World ( PATW ) competition, an engineering competition open to university and college students or recent graduates (18-26 years old) in an engineering or technology field.

Individual competitors are asked to deliver a 10-minute presentation on a technical topic followed by a 5-minute question and answer period. The presentation can be based on a co-op experience, a research project, or an internship and any topic in a science or engineering field is welcome. The emphasis is to develop participants’ presentation skills (75% of the evaluation) with a lesser focus on the technical content (25% of the evaluation), enabling competitors in various levels of studies or careers to participate on equal footing. The presentations are delivered in front of a panel of judges as well as an audience. Presentations are given through three different competition rounds – local network, regional, and global. Winners at each level proceed onwards. There are cash prizes to be won at each stage and all expenses paid travel for competitors at the regional and global levels.

Ottawa’s PATW will be hosted at Carleton University on March 30, 2013. The deadline for registration is March 28, 2013. This year the winner from Ottawa will be sent to Toronto for the regional finals. The global finals are in London, England.

Competitors need to reserve their slot  using eventbrite. Guests are encouraged to register too.

It’s free to participate, compete and attend the event. IET Members/Non-Members can attend at no cost. This will be a great opportunity to become visible to the world via the IET and provide a network to industry leaders.
