Banu Ormeci Gets Royal Treatment for Outstanding Achievement

Carleton University professor Banu Ormeci is being honoured by the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) for outstanding achievements in research.
Dr. Ormeci, a Canada Research Chair in Wastewater and Public Health Engineering in Carleton University’s department of civil and environmental engineering, was recently honoured as an Outstanding Young Scientist by the RSC and the InterAcademy Panel on International Issues.
Dr. Ormeci recently returned from The World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos, where she represented Canada. Dr. Ormeci was one of only 50 outstanding young scientists chosen worldwide to be chosen to attend this meeting. The forum brings together some of the best and brightest leaders and innovators from around the world to network, cooperate, exchange ideas and address fundamental global issues such as the environment, economy, resource shortages, health and education.
Dr. Ormeci is working on innovative water and wastewater treatment processes and is the recipient of several research and teaching awards and patents.
