A steam trap is used to remove condensate
(water) from the steam lines. The most common type of
trap is an inverted bucket trap shown on the left. Steam
and water enter at "E" and initially the steam
will push the inverted bucket "A" up. When the
trap fills with water, the inverted bucket "A"
will drop and the water will be blown out into a
condensate line at "B". The bucket then rises
again and the hole at "B" closes. The cycle
repeats itself . |
