Academic Regulations for the Bachelor of Arts - First-Year Seminar Requirement

The regulations regarding the First-Year Seminars (FYSM) in the Bachelor of Arts have changed subsequent to the publication of the print edition of the 2007-2008 Calendar. (Senate-approved update, posted May 7, 2007)

Academic Regulations of the University - Credit for ESL Courses

The regulations regarding credit for ESL courses has been changed. Section 6.9 b) has been corrected to read, "for students in the Bachelor of Commerce degree..." (Correction posted July 4, 2007)

Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Degree Programs (Physics)

The admission regulations for Physics, Applied Physics, and combined programs with Physics have changed (Senate-approved update, posted July 26, 2007)

Academic Year

Carleton University will be closed for the statutory holiday on February 18, 2008 (Update posted January 31, 2008).

Co-operative Education

Co-operative Education Work-Study Patterns - the work-study pattern for the B.Eng. Software Engineering program has changed (update posted March 1, 2007).

Criminology

Requirements for all Criminology programs have been modified to include SOCI 1003 [1.0] as an alternative to the requirement for SOCI 1001 and SOCI 1002 (Senate-approved update, posted May 7, 2007).

Chemistry

B.Sc.Combined Hons. Chemistry and Computer Science - Item #11 (1.0 credit in free electives) had been left off from the Chemistry version of this combined program description, in error. The description has been corrected. (Update posted September 21, 2009)

Earth Sciences

Programs

B.Sc. Honours Earth Sciences with Concentration in Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoecology: the reference to GEOG 3002 in item 6 has been corrected to read GEOM 3002 (Correction posted June 4, 2007)

Courses

New courses ERTH 2406 Geology and Map Interpretation and ERTH 3002 Gemnology have been added (Senate-approved update, posted June 4, 2007)

The prerequisite statements have been modified for the following courses: ERTH 2404, ERTH 3201, ERTH 3202, ERTH 3204, ERTH 3805, ERTH 3806, ERTH 4403, ERTH 4707, ERTH 4802, ERTH 4908 (Senate-approved update, posted June 4, 2007)

The preclusionary statements for ERTH 2401, ERTH 2402 and ERTH 2403 have been removed (Senate-approved update, posted June 4, 2007)

Introduction of new Combined Honours in Applied Economics (Senate-approved update, posted May 7, 2007)

Courses
ECON 3706 - The prerequisite for ECON 3706 has changed (Senate-approved update, posted May 7, 2007).

First-Year Seminars

New courses FYSM 1610 Understanding Environmental Discourse and FYSM 1612 Language Planning, Official Bilingualism, and Canadian Nation Building have been added (Senate approved update, posted March 19, 2007).

Integrated Science

Program requirements for the Science and Ethics stream have been modified to reflect changes in Philosophy courses (Senate approved update, posted June 6, 2007).

Linguistics

The class hours for ITAL 2000 has been changed to four hours plus out-of-class assignments (Senate approved update, posted May 2, 2007).

Psychology

PSYC 2300 has been removed from the list of courses in Item 4 in the Psychology B.A. Honours program, as this course is no longer offered. (update posted March 22, 2007).

Women's Studies

Programs - the Women's Studies program descriptions have been updated to reflect Senate-approved changes for the 2007-2008 Calendar year (update posted February 28, 2007).

Courses - updates to the following courses have been made to reflect Senate-approved changes for the 2007-2008 Calendar year: WOMN 2800, WOMN 3002, WOMN 3003 (modification to prerequisites), WOMN 3808 (course is discontinued), WOMN 3809, WOMN 3810, WOMN 4906 (new courses) (update posted February 28, 2007).
