Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs Co-op Support Funds

Carleton University’s Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs offers financial assistance to eligible not-for-profit and charitable organizations to assist with the hiring of a co-op student from Carleton University’s Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management (BPAPM) program. Biotalent Canada

Biotalent Canada’s Career Focus Program is a wage subsidy program available to employers with a substantial biotechnology focus to hire new and recent post-secondary graduates.

 Canada Summer Jobs

Service Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs is a wage subsidy program that enables public, private and not-for-profit employers to create career-related summer jobs for student participants.

Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit

The Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit provides a refundable tax credit of qualified labour expenditures by a corporation for the production of a Canadian film or video production.

Co-operative Education Tax Credit

The Co-operative Education Tax Credit is a provincial refundable tax credit for businesses hiring students enrolled in a recognized post-secondary co-operative education program. Private companies in Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba may be eligible for a tax credit equal to a percentage of the co-op student’s salary. All of Carleton’s co-op programs are tax credit-eligible.

Electricity Sector Council

The Electricity Sector Council’s Career Focus Program provides eligible companies in the energy sector with a wage subsidy to hire new and recent post-secondary graduates.

 Environmental Careers Organization (ECO) Canada Internship Program

ECO Canada administers two wage-subsidy internship programs to assist companies with hiring recent post-secondary graduates: the National Environmental Youth Corp. (NEYC)  and the International Environmental Youth Corp. (IEYC).

Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNOR) Youth Internship  

FedNOR’s Youth Internship provides financial support to small and medium sized businesses and not-for-profit organizations in Northern Ontario to employ recent graduates of post-secondary institutions.

 

Grants Ontario – Summer Experience Program

The Summer Experience Program provides not-for-profit organizations, municipalities and Aboriginal/First Nations communities with funding to create meaningful summer employment opportunities for students. The duration of funded employment is a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 34 days under this program.

Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC)

ICTC’s Career Focus Program provides a wage subsidy to employers hiring new and recent post-secondary graduates for full-time ICT positions.

Mitacs-Accelerate

The Mitacs-Accelerate research internship program is a cost-shared R&D internship program that connects companies with Canadian universities’ research expertise at the graduate or post-doctoral level.

National Research Council

The National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) - Youth Employment Strategy offers financial assistance to eligible small and medim-sized enterprises in Canada to hire highly-skilled post-secondary graduates.

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC)

NSERC provides Industrial Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) to enable current students to work at a research and development facility of an eligible organization in Canada. NSERC also provides Industrial R&D Fellowships to help companies hire a recent Ph.D. graduate to undertake a research project of importance to the company.

Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC)

NOHFC’s Northern Ontario Youth Internship and Co-op Program provides financial assistance to eligible private and public sector employers in Northern Ontario to help young northerners make the transition to the workplace through co-op placement or internship.

Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects (OCASE) Tax Credit

The Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects Tax Credit is a refundable tax credit to Ontario-based corporations of qualifying Ontario labour expenditures for computer animation and digital visual effects activities.

Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit

The Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit is a refundable tax credit for labour expenditures incurred by a production company with respect to an eligible Ontario production.

Ontario Innovation Tax Credit

The Ontario Innovation Tax Credit is a refundable tax credit available to all corporations that perform scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED) in Ontario.  Eligible expenses include salaries and wages of employees directly engaged in SR&ED.

Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit

The Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit is a refundable tax credit for labour expenses and marketing and distribution expenditures for the creation of interactive digital media products.

Ontario Production Services Tax Credit

The Ontario Production Services Tax Credit is a refundable tax credit for labour and other production expenditures incurred by a qualifying company with respect to an eligible film or television production, that are not claimed for purposes of the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit.

Ontario Research Fund (ORF)

The Ontario Research Fund supports scientific research that can be developed into innovative goods and services that will boost Ontario’s economy. The ORF provides a single window for research funding, including wages and benefits, across a variety of programs.

 Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities

HRSDC’s Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities provides funding to organizations for local, regional or national programming initiatives.

Science Horizons Youth Internship Program

Environment Canada’s Science Horizons Youth Internship Program is a collaborative effort with applicant companies and organizations that provides funding to hire post-secondary graduates to work on environment based projects.

Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Program

The SR&ED Program is a federal tax incentive program to encourage Canadian businesses of all sizes and in all sectors to conduct research and development in Canada that will lead to new, improved, or technologically advanced products or processes. Companies can apply for SR&ED investment tax credits for expenditures such as wages, materials, machinery, equipment, some overhead, and SR&ED contracts.

Status of Women

The Women’s Program provides financial assistance, including salary expenditures, to organizations carrying out projects that address barriers to women’s participation and equality in Canadian society.

Employment Ontario offers a hiring incentive for eligible Ontario employers to create summer job placements.

Young Canada Works

Heritage Canada’s Young Canada Works offers wage subsidies to employers in heritage or cultural organizations to hire summer students as well as post-secondary graduate interns.
