Carleton AIDS WALK

The Carleton AIDS Awareness Society was created in 2004 by university students concerned about the devastation caused by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Society members, as global citizens, raise funds for the care of people affected by the disease and create sustained awareness about the causes and effects of the pandemic.
Proceeds from all events organized by CAAS go to charitable organizations here in Canada and abroad. The society has organised and participated in various on campus and off campus activities.
In 2004-2005, through bake sales, panel discussions, coin campaigns, the Society raised over $3,700 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation (stephenlewisfoundation.org). In 2005, during the Ottawa AIDS WALK, students under Team PATH (Promoting Awareness Together in Harmony) raised over $6,000 for various AIDS Services Organisations here in Ottawa. In 2006, a major campus AIDS WALK, the first of its kind, was held. The walk alongside the Ottawa AIDS WALK which saw the participation of more than 450 students and faculty members from Carleton University raised over $13,000. The Society continues to seek avenues to collaborate and work with different offices and service centres here in Carleton University, and organisations in the city. The society continues to expand ideas and its reach. The work of the society must not stop with the WALK.
Join us in fighting the good fight and help put hope back into the hearts of those most affected by HIV/AIDS.
