Bridging Program History

Inspired by York University’s Bridging Program for Women, the Centre for Initiatives in Education launched its own Bridging Program to provide university access for adults in the National Capital Region. We began offering Bridging courses for women in January 2001. Due to the success and popularity of these courses, we began offering Bridging courses for men in 2003, and began offering co-educational courses for men and women in 2009. The program ran as a low-cost, non-credit program until April 2013. It was then converted to a full-year, credit course in order to allow students to more fully prepare for university study and to earn a credit that will count toward their degree.
